Words flow more adequately in ink straight from my body. Sometimes I refill my pens from the marrow in my bones.

Drunk off of life

This is by far the best summer of my life.
I've made new friends and experienced new things.

On the fourth I went to Detroit to Comerica Cityfest
with some friends. We went mainly to see Spoon perform. They were great
live, which really surprised me. They played the songs I wanted to
listen to and I got to dance a little bit with a crowd full of good folk.

Before leaving Cityfest, we watched a funk band perform, I sort of got my freak on. As Derek put it, the Latina in me came out. Which is true.

Afterwards, we went to White Castle. BAD IDEA. Everybody got sick, except Melisa and me. We were smart about the food.

Left Detroit to go home, some snugglin' in the back seat, and watched some colours explode in the sky as we drove on the highway.

Once
we got home, we went to Dawn Donuts for some good coffee and real talk.
After that we went to the park to swing, get eaten alive by mosquitoes and get asked by a group of middle schoolers for some pot.

We took a walk, sat on the wet grass, get eaten alive by some more bugs, chat, and appreciate the stars.

We took another walk on a dark pathway in the woods. There were fireflies everywhere.
"Hey, this will make up for the missed fireworks," Derek said.

And it surely did.
It was so beautiful.
We were all quiet.
We just stood in the woods to admire our fireworks.
